The Owl Children have had a lovely first week back. They were very excited to make snow angels, throw the powdery snow up into the air, and listen to the sound of snow and ice crunching under their feet. We also made some bird feeders so that we can hang them in the big tree for the birds.

Happy New Year! This week we welcomed back our Squirrels after their Christmas break! We have had plenty of smiles and lots of lovely cuddles! On Tuesday we came into nursery to see our garden covered in snow! As you can imagine everyone was very excited and wanted to explore. We suited up and headed outside! We made snow angels, snowmen and snowballs! This also gave us the chance to bring the snow inside to explore! This week we started our new core text, ' That's not my Owl'. We made some snowy owls using paint and shaving foam and decorated our owls with feathers! The Squirrels have had such a positive start to the term. We are very proud of all of our Squirrels .

Happy New Year! We have all had a lovely first few days of 2026, welcoming back our friends as well as meeting new ones! The Hedgehogs were all very pleased when they saw it had been snowing at the start of the week! Exploring outside in it as well as bringing it inside to further develop our fine motor skills by scooping it with our cups/spoons as well as feeling the coldness in our hands. We have also started our core text, 'That's not my owl!' in which the Hedgehogs have enjoyed turning the pages and looking at the variety of textures seen on each, describing a different body part of the owl and making the noises
We would like to wish all of our children and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us here at Kirkley Nursery! Thank you for all of our cards and gifts, see you all in 2026

We have had a lovely last week of term, the children had fun making Christmas hats to wear for our Christmas lunch, we have been making lots of festive pictures and collages, made decorations and today we had a little party with lots of dancing, and pass the parcel. The Owl team would like to say thank you for all our Christmas cards and gifts and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We look forward to seeing you all on the 6th January.

The Squirrels have had a very busy and festive few weeks! We have been making lots of Christmas crafts and all of the crafts will be sent home from today On Friday we welcomed our parents / carers into setting for our Christmas Stay and play! It was wonderful to see lots of happy faces This week is the final week of transitions between rooms before the start of the new year. Each room will be also having small Christmas parties to celebrate the final week of term. This week is also a sad week for Squirrels as it Sharons last day with us on Friday 19th December. Sharon has been with the Squirrels team since the very beginning and she will be dearly missed. She had had a huge impact on all of our children and families and we wish her all the best for her future endeavours From all of us in the Squirrels room, we wish you all a very merry Christmas snd a happy new year See you in 2026

We have had a lovely week in the Owl Room, full of festivities. The children have been dressing up in Christmas outfits pretending to be elves and Santa. We have made Christmas cards, decorating a large scale tree. Practicing our balancing skills in the garden and counting whilst playing hopscotch. We finished our week with a Christmas stay and play, thank you to all the parents who came to join us for the afternoon.
