We have had a lovely week in our Owl Room. With the freezing cold weather earlier in the week the children went on the hunt for ice. The children built a gigantic balancing area in the garden, pretending that the floor was Lava. Some of the stepping stones were numbered so the children had a go at recognising the numbers and also counting how many there were. The children sat themselves on the balance beams for some singing and had lots giggles singing and dancing to "sandy boy, Sandy girl".

This week, the Hedgehogs have started preparing for Christmas! We have made a start with our festive pictures which we will be sending home and displaying in room. We have been making our own snow and exploring with the animals that live in these conditions, such as the polar bears and penguins. The Hedgehogs have had great fun impersonating these by waddling around the room! We have also started to read our new core texts which are 'Dear Santa' and 'That's not my elf!', with the children particularly enjoying lifting the flaps to discover what presents Father Christmas had wrapped up!

We have had a lovely week in the Owl room. The children have enjoyed exploring the yellow rice pouring it into and filling containers using bottles and funnels. We have been creative with duplo and wooden blocks. We also had the light box available which the children arranged translucent shapes on. Our Christmas tree decorations have been started, these will be going on our tree in the local church in a couple of weeks.

The Squirrels have had a busy few weeks! We have been exploring different activities surround our core text ' Rosie's Walk'. We also celebrated and learnt about Guy Fawkes night, Remembrance Day and Children in Need! . This week we were very lucky to be outside when it started to snow! Today our children said their goodbyes to Summer as she starts a new exciting chapter. Summer has been at our nursery since the very start and we will miss her dearly Next week we start our new core text ' Dear Santa' for the last few weeks of term

This week, the Hedgehogs have been participating in lots of sensory play! We have created our own tuff trays, filled with objects referencing to our core text 'That's not my hedgehog!' The hedgehogs have enjoyed developing their language by using and listening to words such as spiky, soft, smooth and prickly over the past few weeks! We also made our own rice cripsy hedgehog cakes and painted our own hedgehogs using carrots as our paint brushes! As well as singing lots of songs and reading plenty of stories Next week, we will start looking at our Christmas activities, as well as starting our new core texts and of course, singing plenty of Christmas songs!

Hedgehogs have had a lovely couple of weeks back after the October half term! We have been exploring and participating in lots of celebrations, such as Bonfire night, Remembrance Day and Children in Need! We have made our own fireworks pictures, play dough, dyed our rice/pasta red, black ,green and yellow to match the celebration themes as well as colouring some pictures. Hedgehogs also enjoyed making their own Pudsey bear using a variety of resources and showed great respect when they all did super participating in their 2 minute silence on Tuesday!

This week in the owls room we have continued to learn about our talk for writing book 'Owl babies'. The children have got very good at memorising the story and reading along. They have also explored this throughout the activities in the room which has allowed them to practice skills such as cutting, painting, colouring, creating, counting and literacy. This week we have also had the pleasure to be able to celebrate two very important days, Remembrance day and Children in need. The children have learnt about why we recognise these days and the history around them as well as having the opportunities to engage in lots of fun activities associated with these. It was lovely to see children wearing Poppies for Remembrance Day and pyjamas/spotty/Pudsey attire for Children in need.
